Is Your Website Generating Leads?

Have you been struggling to generate leads from your website? If so, you’re not alone. Generating leads is one of two things that can really hold a company back. In this blog post, we’ll go over 10 reasons why your website isn’t generating leads – and how to fix them! Whether you’re new to website design or have been using the same template for years, updating your website to increase leads will be a breeze. We hope this blog post will give you some insights into fixing the issues on your website that are preventing you from generating leads.

1. call to action

generating leads

The first thing we always recommend is having a call to action in the prime real estate of your website. The prime real estate is the first thing someone sees when they come to your website. Most of the time if people like what they see they will immediately fill out the form that is right there for them to see.

Make sure your phone number is always visible as soon as they land on your page or your contact us is very easy to find. If the customer has any difficulty finding out how to reach you they will instantly leave your site and find a new company that makes their purchasing easier.

A call to action is a simple phrase or sentence on your website that tempts people into doing something – like signing up for your email list, downloading your free ebook, or visiting one of your landing pages.

Lacking call to actions just ruins the user experience of your site. Always go through your site as a customer. Ask yourself is this how I would want to go through the sales funnel. Is this the most convenient and optimal way for my client to reach or purchase my product? These answers will give you a great baseline. We A/B test call to action all the time to make sure we are getting the highest conversion rate possible and generating high-quality leads.

2. Complicated landing pages and contact forms

generating leads

Having the most intuitive design of all time doesn’t mean it will get sales. We have had a ton of clients over the years who focused more on what they wanted and thought was cool rather than their customers. You can make a site look insanely eye-catching design-wise but could be a nightmare for your customer to navigate.

Think of the top websites in the world. Twitter, Facebook, Google, Youtube, etc. These sites have pretty basic designs. They just provide a good user experience. It is easy to navigate and find what you are looking for. My favorite social media Reddit is a great example of how simplicity is never bad.

Another issue is that many sites overcomplicate their pages with features or unnecessary content. When a potential buyer lands on your page they are looking to solve one of their pain points. Where it be they are looking for a dress for their wedding or they need to get rid of those pesky termites. You need to make sure what they see will excite them and allow them to get their problem solved.

For wedding dresses, we would a section of our most popular dresses so they can see that we have some great options and then below say none of these for you? Then check out our array of beautiful and luxurious dresses below.

Putting all of your dresses would overwhelm the person buying right off the bat. Minimalize options for the main focus then offer more options after.

If a customer gets overwhelmed or loses interest in the mass selection of product or services they will just find an easier option.

Keep your contact forms to the most important information. Some sites like to have the customer fill out their life story just to make that initial contact. Name, phone, and email are always good places to start.

Design a landing page that focuses on one key question or offer – and make sure all of the necessary contact info is included in one easy-to-find spot.

As we stated previously the less options the better.

3. Confusing navigation

poor navigation

This is one of my personal pet peeves. If a website is hard to navigate then it won’t convert. We worked with a company that had a snippet about their main service on the home page. Then you had to go through a huge dropdown menu just to find the service again. They thought people would be impressed with all they had to offer but it was like chewing on tin foil to get to the actual page that you wanted people to convert on.

Too often, websites feature confusing navigation menus that take people on long detours before they ever reach the information they’re looking for.

Try simplifying your navigation by organizing your content into easily-accessible categories, and by featuring clear labels and icons wherever necessary.

4. Your Website Is Outdated or Unresponsive

Another reason website leads may be dwindling is because your website’s design and functionality are simply not up to date.

Many people now visit websites on their smartphones or other mobile devices, which means outdated designs and sluggish page loads can significantly reduce the impact of your content.

Try updating your web design to match the latest trends and features – it will not only make surviving in a competitive online world easier, but it could also increase lead flow as well!

Make sure all of your web pages are designed specifically for mobile viewing and testing – and make sure that everything works smoothly on all types of devices!

Just remember Google cares deeply about page speed and user experience. If you don’t provide a great experience Google will not recommend you.

5. You’re Not Targeting the Right Audience

wrong target audience

Your website’s design and content should be tailored to attract the right kind of visitor – someone who is interested in what you have to offer.

When generating leads, think about your target market and make sure that your content is relevant to them.

It doesn’t matter how much traffic you get if the traffic isn’t the right traffic. If you’re selling a dog product and you target pet owners. You could have 50% or more of the people come to your website, not even dog owners. You want to make sure your targeting is specific. It is better to get less traffic and be targeted rather than a ton of traffic and it just bounces immediately because it doesn’t fit their need.

6. You Don’t Have a Social Media Presence

generating leads

Social media is very important for brand trust and generating leads. If a client sees you don’t have a social media page then they might not trust that your brand is legit. Social media is one of the if not the best branding tools.

Make sure when you are posting on social media it isn’t anything but sales pitches. Companies that do this are more likely to fail. Offer value to your followers.

Would you rather follow a social media page that talks about their product in every post or one that can teach you things and shows they are experts and know what they are talking about?

A great example of this is if you owned a roofing company would you rather write a post to tell clients how awesome you and your services are or how getting a new roof can protect them from further damages in the winter and how it could save them up to $10,000 or more dollars.

The education will help them learn about why it is important and teaches them that they will be saving that sweet sweet green. You can also always throw in how awesome you are at the end if you feel necessary. Just make sure you add an easy way for them to reach out at the end.

7. You’re Not Producing New Content

content is king

Your website is your digital brick and mortar. This is what represents your company to the online world.

If you are generating leads for a service-based business you have the opportunity to show how much of an expert you are in your industry. This provides trust that will lead to conversions. Of course, people aren’t going to read your whole article but they will see pretty quickly that you know what you are talking about.

If you are selling a product your content can tell the benefits of the product. How can it solve a problem or just make you look good in that summerwear? Just make sure you understand the lingo that is being used in your target audience. Speaking their language makes your product more appealing.

We also recommend creating Youtube videos and other types of nonwritten media. Video and Podcasting is a great way to build your brand and build brand trust. Not only that but Youtube videos are put above standard Google search so you can rank easier there in most cases. It is a great way to provide easily digestible content while getting ranked higher faster. You just need to learn how the Youtube SEO algorithm works. Generating leads doesn’t have to only be done through your website.

Always be sure to stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends! I know people who are so out of date on their industry that it destroys their reputation. It always comes down to what your audience wants and understanding the best practices in your industry today.

8. Your content doesn’t solve problems

content problem

One of the main reasons people visit websites is to find solutions to their problems.

If your content doesn’t address the needs of your target audience, they’re likely to move on and find information or a product that does.

Develop specific topics or interviews that focus on solving specific problems for your industry, and make sure each piece of content provides concrete tips and advice.

Then put together a strong editorial calendar so you can always stay ahead of the curve!

Just remember when generating leads through content, hitting their pain points is a must.

9. Your Website Is Not Optimized For Speed

slow website

If your website is not loading quickly it won’t generate leads. In fact, page speed is one of the most important factors when it comes to SEO. Not only does it hurt your rank in search engines, but it also will lead to high bounce rates and frustrated customers.

To ensure your website is fast and user-friendly, follow these tips: – Design your website with a fast loading time in mind. – Make sure all of your images are optimized for web delivery. – Use compressors and minifiers on your CSS, JavaScript, and HTML files to save bytes while still providing the same functionality.

Check your website’s speed on a regular basis using a speed testing tool. A slow website will hinder you from generating leads.

10. Your Website Isn’t Properly Optimized for SEO

If your website is not optimized for SEO, you will not rank well in search engine results and you won’t have leads.

The reason for this is simple – search engines give more weight to websites that are properly optimized. In addition to being fast and user-friendly, a properly optimized website includes the following elements: – An appropriate title tag – A description meta tag containing your keywords – Internal linking throughout your page content – Correct keyword usage across all of your element tags

To optimize your website for SEO, follow these guidelines: – Evaluate your on-page content to determine which keywords are most important to you and target them specifically.

Check the title tags of all of your pages, as well as the meta description tags, to make sure they are optimized for search engine visibility. – In addition to optimizing individual page elements, consider creating a keyword strategy document that outlines how you will use different keywords throughout your entire website.

By optimizing your website for SEO, you can increase traffic and conversions by giving people more reasons to click on your link.
